Kirk Lundbeck, Head PGA Professional at Sycamore Golf Club has announced the golf course will be open for the 2011 golf season on Thursday, March 31st as soon as the temperature warms above 32 degrees.  All 18 holes will be open.  The hours of operation during the early spring will be 7:00am till dusk Monday through Sunday.  Once the weather improves and the early morning temperatures are warmier the course will be open at 6:30am on weekdays and 6am on weekends.  Riding carts will not be available for use during the first few weeks until the turfgrass is strong enough to handle the cart traffic.

September 11th and 12th

September 11th and 12th is the “Weekend of More” at the Sycamore Park District! All the areas of the District will be hosting special events, giveaways, free classes, discounts and MORE!
The Recreation Department will be beginning early Saturday morning with a weekend of free aerobic classes AND no charge to use the weight room all weekend. So if you haven’t visited our weight/cardio workout room, here is your chance. Check us out. Receive 10% off on the purchase of a 3 month membership to the weight room.
The Sycamore Golf Club will also be featuring discounts all weekend as well. Check our website for the Putting contest on Saturday morning as well as a weekend discount rate for nine holes! Also, the Clubhouse Grill will be featuring a discount on all food all weekend as well.
Next up Saturday, Outdoor Movie Night! We will feature a movie at Kiwanis Park on Saturday night beginning at 7:30pm. Bring your chairs or blankets and join us in the park for “The Creature from the Black Lagoon” visiting for a night of campy fun. We will have food and light snacks for purchase or bring your own out. Special thanks to the Sycamore Chamber for use of the projector and equipment!

This weekend will culminate with a Concert in the Park, featuring the Neverly Brothers! The concert will be held at the Good Tymes Shelter, located at the Sports Complex. The concert will begin at 5:00 pm. For updated information or call the Community Center at 815-895-3202.

Love snapping pictures? Block Party is the perfect place to get to snappin’! The Sycamore Park District is holding a photo contest at the 2009 Block Party on September 12th! The Block Party is from 3-11pm and is a great chance to get shots of family fun, live music and whatever else you can find.

Prizes for the photo contest include:

  • One half season golf pass,
  • One family pool pass(for the whole family)
  • One free 3 hour Clubhouse Rental(with 10% off any food/beverages bought) as part of the package
  • One set of 2 half year fitness passes(bring along a friend).

First Place winner will have first pick, then second place..and so on.  As with most contests, prizes are subject to change.

Pictures from the event must be sent in  by September 21st.  The winning picture will be used in Block Party 2010 promotions as well as Discover Sycamore promotions year round.
