Come to downtown Sycamore next weekend July 25 thru 27 for the Turning Back Time Weekend .  On Friday night the classic cars start rolling in and you can enjoy a free outdoor movie presented by NB&T at dusk.  Saturday join us at Cruise Night presented by Auto Meter Products. Cruise Night is featuring 250 Classic Cars, a street dance with live music, and a food and beer garden.  And on Sunday is the Car Show with over 1,000 classic cars and motorcycles.

Cruise Night presented by Auto Meter Products, held on Saturday, July 28, is part of Sycamore’s fun-filled Turning Back Time Weekend.  Volunteers are needed for Cruise Night to help setup the event, sell tickets, pour and serve beer, register vehicles, and clean up afterward. 

Shifts are two hours each and shifts vary throughout the afternoon.  Volunteer shifts include 2-4pm, 3-5pm, 5-7pm, 7-9pm, and 9-11pm.

Heartsaver AED/CPR

The American Heart Association Heartsaver AED course teaches all lay rescuers when to phone 911, how to give CPR, how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator), and how to provide relief of choking. This course covers adult and child CPR & AED and Infant CPR. This course also includes information on the signs and symptoms of heart attack, stroke, and child and infant safety. A course completion card will be given following successful completion of the course. The class fee is $45 per person. Price includes book. The class is July 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the KishHealth System Building at 2727 Sycamore Road, DeKalb. Registration is required for this program and closes three days before the program date. Safe Sitter Basic

This 2-day internationally recognized babysitting program teaches 11 to 13-year-olds the skills to provide children in their care a safe, nurturing environment. Includes Safe Sitter backpack, manual, supplies and light refreshments. The fee for the class is $40 per person. The class is July 10 and 11, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in Kish Hospital’s Roberts Conference Center. Registration is required for this program and closes three days before the program date. Cooking From the Summer Garden All Year

Your summer vegetables can provide nutritious, delicious options for you throughout the year. Jo Cessna, Healthy Culinary Instructor, demonstrates techniques to cook soups, sautés, beverages, relishes, and quick main and side dishes made from summer vegetables. Also learn how to freeze and dry produce for the winter months. Tastes and recipes provided. The cost is $10 per person. The class is July 10, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Kish Hospital’s Roberts Conference Center. Registration is required for this program and closes three days before the program date. Next Level Sports Performance Clinic Kids

Unlimited Performance helps develop a kid’s speed, agility training, power improvement, core stability, strength and balance training, injury prevention, and stretching techniques. Learn the latest in diabetes care with an emphasis on the positives. Take the initiative now to control your diabetes and not allow it to control you. Invite the whole family to enjoy a free outdoor movie in downtown Sycamore!  Discover Sycamore will host Summer on State on Thursday, June 28 at dusk.  Happy Feet Two is presented by Dr. Tina Starkweather of Foot & Ankle Physicians and Surgeons.

Happy Feet Two is a family friendly movie about Erik, a young penguin, finding his own path in life.  While Erik struggles to find his own talents, his family and friends find a threat to their home, which brings the entire penguin community together.  Happy Feet Two is 100 minutes and is rated PG.
